Gregory D. Parkhurst, MD

"Laser vision correction for my own eyes was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Being an eye surgeon requires sharp, fine-detailed vision, so when patients tell me about the fantastic impact the procedure has had on their lives, I know exactly what they mean."

Gregory D. Parkhurst, M.D. is recognized nationally as an expert and leader in LASIK vision correction who has helped pioneer new trends in refractive surgery worldwide. Prior to joining McFarland Eye Centers, Dr. Parkhurst was the Chief of Ophthalmology and Refractive Eye Surgery at the world’s largest military base, where he performed over 6,200 successful refractive eye surgery procedures including LASIK, PRK, and implantable contact lenses.  Dr. Parkhurst’s LASIK experience during the past several years has been greater than 95% of all surgeons in the country, and he was instrumental in advancing the recent surge in popularity of the Implantable Contact Lens procedure (ICL) both within the United States and internationally. Because of his unmatched experience, Dr. Parkhurst was given awards by STAAR Surgical for being the single highest volume ICL surgeon in the world in both 2009 and 2010.

With use of the most advanced Laser Vision and Implantable Lens technology, 94% of Dr. Parkhurst’s patients see 20/20 or better without glasses, and most see 20/15! Dr. Parkhurst has performed successful surgery on professional athletes, military helicopter pilots, and a wide range of professionals from all backgrounds, including another LASIK surgeon who chose Dr. Parkhurst to be the one trusted for the best possible outcome.

He has served on the teaching faculty of the International Society of Refractive Surgery, the International Military Refractive Surgery Symposia, and the Aspen Invitational Refractive Surgery meeting, which is attended by the world’s leading cataract and refractive surgeons by invitation only.
