John Hope, MD

Dr. John Hope is a board certified ophthalmologist with over 20 years of experience. He graduated from Temple University located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with academic honors and then Temple University Medical School. His outstanding educational achievements coupled with his demonstrated ability as a military officer earned him the singular distinction of being awarded both the Distinguished Military Student and Distinguished Military graduate awards for the Department of the Army. Dr. Hope completed his surgical internship at the premier, internationally acclaimed Walter Reed Army Medical Center with subsequent assignment to the U S Army Aeromedical Center at For Rucker, Alabama where he became a flight surgeon. Then it was on to Fort Sam Houston, Texas and Brooke Army Medical Center for a 3 year residency in Ophthalmology. The BAMC training program was intimately associated with two other nationally acclaimed programs, one at the University of Texas of San Antonio and the other Wilford Hall Medical Center (US Air Force).
Following his academic, medical and surgical training, Dr. Hope served over 20 years as the surgical ophthalmologist with additional duties to include US Army hospital, Chief of Staff, Chief of Surgery, Chief of Ambulatory Surgery and Chief of EENT. He subsequently retired honorably having served in Desert Strom. He has been in private practice since 1992 prior to joining the medical staff of McFarland Eye Centers in September of 2004.
Dr. Hope and his wife, Jean, reside in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
