John N. Gillespie, MD

Dr. John Gillespie is a board-certified ophthalmologist, with 23 years of experience in private practice.  He graduated with honors from Ohio State University in 1976; form the Louisville School of Medicine at Louisville,  Kentucky in 1980; and completed his Residency at the renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  Dr. Gillespie is known and respected as one of the leading LASIK surgeons in Arkansas, having performed over 1,700 LASIK cases and over 6,000 total refractive procedures.  He also performs glaucoma, strabismus and cornea surgery, and enjoys comprehensive medical ophthalmology.

Dr. Mike McFarland has considered offering LASIK to our patients for many years, and invited Dr. Gillespie to join our medical team as the McFarland Eye Centers refractive surgeon.  Dr. McFarland feels Dr. Gillespie has both the surgical skill and experience necessary to provide the high standard of care our patients deserve.  Dr. Gillespie joined the McFarland medical team in April of 2003, and has already proven himself to be a very able clinician and skilled surgeon.

Dr. Gillespie sees patients in all three McFarland Eye Centers locations, and performs LASIK surgery in special laser suites at our Hot Springs clinic and also at our Little Rock location on Chenal Parkway.  He performs LASIK with the VISX Star 4 laser, and offers CustomVue WavePrint scanning system to our refractive patients.
