My interest for health care started by watching my mom, who is a nurse. I loved watching her interact with her patients and take care of them and get to know them. I knew I wanted to help people the same way my mom did, but I also knew I wanted to do something a little different. I was introduced to Optometry at the age of 11 when I had to get glasses. As I grew up, I became passionate about helping people in this way.
I want to get to know my patients. I want to make sure all my patients feel comfortable so they can really relate their needs and concerns to me and we can partner together to overcome them. I also love to educate my patients well so they have every question answered before they leave. I want my patients to know I’m treating them like I would treat my own family.
McFarland’s feels like home to me. I’m from Arkansas and I love being able to stay in my home state doing what I love. I also love the team atmosphere at McFarland’s. When you have Optometrist and Ophthalmologist working together, it’s a really win for the patient. We can take care of our patients from all angles here.
There are so many things I love about practicing Optometry! I think what I enjoy most is the combination of eye health and overall health. So much of the story of someone’s health can be found in the eyes.
I am a graduate of Bryant High School, where I was a cheerleader. I also have a very rare eye condition called Torpedo Maculopathy and have participated in specialized studies to further what is known about the condition. I have to wear super high prescription glasses and hard contacts.
