Why I wanted to go into eye care:
In medical school, I loved clinical medicine for the continuity of care and the ability to build long lasting patient relationships, and I loved surgery because impactful change in a patient’s life could often be made with a simple procedure. Ophthalmology is a perfect marriage of these. I was initially drawn to Pediatric Ophthalmology because I enjoy the challenges involved with strabismus, but it turns out that I really love working with kids. After all, I fully maintain that some of the most entertaining conversations to be had are those with an elementary school child!
My philosophy:
For me, the doctor-patient relationship is of utmost importance. I want all of my patients to leave feeling like they have all of their concerns addressed and that they received my undivided attention. I always want to make sure patients know that we make decisions together regarding the treatment of their /their child’s eyes.
What I love about practicing at McFarland’s:
It is such a privilege to care for the community that I have called home all of my life and in a practice that values excellent patient experience and outcome.
Favorite part of my job:
Seeing a parent’s face light up when they see their child’s eyes working together after strabismus surgery or when discussing the impact that glasses have made on their child’s development and learning, or when an adult suffering from double vision returns after strabismus surgery and is overcome with joy to be able to see a single image again.
Something I would like my patients to know about me:
I am a Little Rock native. I am married and have two awesome, active boys! In most of my spare time, you can find me on a ball field or court watching my boys. I love the Razorbacks, group exercise/strength training, and a good book.
"My experience has been amazing. After my first visit with Dr. Rook and Alicia, I was able to see clearly to drive and I actually experienced my grandson’s football game without double vision for the first time in two years. I can’t recommend enough the friendly and caring staff at McFarland Eye Care."

"Colt has been wearing glasses since he was 3 years old. We were referred to Dr. Rook by a co-worker who said, She is wonderful!" And she is! She is so good with Colt and is very thorough with explaining his treatment plan. We are so happy to have found Dr. Rook!""

"Absolutely love Dr. Rook and her staff!"
